Meet the members of the Bock MACH Lab
Lab Director
Jarrod E. Bock, Ph.D.
Dr. Bock is an Assistant Professor at the University of Wyoming. He received his Ph.D. in Experimental Psychology from Oklahoma State University in 2020.
Dr. Bock’s research broadly examines gender norms within cultures of honor, with a specific focus on how masculinity norms and features of honor cultures (e.g., firearm accessibility) impact mental health and suicide risk.
In his free time, he enjoys hiking, reading, live music, spending time with family and friends, and cheering on the real 'America's Team'--the Green Bay Packers.
Katy Jones
First-year Graduate Student
Katy is interested in the impact that cultural norms—particularly those found within cultures of honor—have on attitudes towards health behaviors and support for health policy. Outside of honor culture, she also has a general interest in examining social stigma and corresponding areas for intervention.
Julia Wells
Undergraduate Research Assistant
Julia is interested in the effect that honor culture has on the development of psychological disorders and disordered behavior, particularly substance use disorder, major depressive disorder, anxiety disorders, and eating disorders.
Jacques De Villiers
Undergraduate Research Assistant, McNair Scholar
Jacques is interested in how culture affects different populations, especially regarding mental health in service members and veterans. He also studies human factors in aviation to improve safety and performance. His goal is to contribute to developing support through a deeper understanding of these areas.
Wyatt Yeigh
Undergraduate Research Assistant
Wyatt is broadly interested in the interactions between mental health, identity, and social behavior. His current focus is on how cultural norms and environmental stressors influence psychological and emotional well-being.
